Powder processing machinery industry is still new in China and in its early stage of development. However, in a short period of 20 years, the industry has experienced a rapid development and expanded to be a supporting industry of many other industries, such as chemical, pharmacy, mine, dyestuff, food, metallurgy, agriculture and husbandry, ceramics, building materials, household chemical, electronics, plastics, and environmental. The industry has already been an essential and active part of national economic development and its market capacity is great.

Products of domestic powder processing machinery industry nowadays are mainly of two types, that is, mechanical and airflow. And some factories manufacture products of mill type, which are not broadly used and would not be detailed here.

Manufacture theory of the airflow type machine is that high-speed airflow pulverizes objects through its impact. Kinds of pulverizing include face-to-fact bumping, targeting, flowing table, etc. Advantages of the airflow type machine are fine pulverized granularity and low impurity, while disadvantage of that high expense, high energy-consumption, short period of wearing-off cycle and low output. So that type of machines is not broadly used.

Manufacture theory of the mechanical type machine is that objects to be pulverized are pulverized through bumping, rubbing, cutting, rolling. That type of machine is applicable in many circumstances and capable of changing into other forms of processing, such as, face granularity refinement and mixing. Advantages of the mechanical type machine are low cost and energy consumption, comparatively high fineness, and high output, while disadvantage of that foreign substance may come in during wearing stage in comparison with the airflow type machine.

Principal goal of international pulverizing industry at present is to raise output while improving fineness, and expand application to, for example, pulverizing objects of fiber, high rigidity, high tenacity, glutinosity, and elasticity. Low-temperature pulverizing machine and that with air environment are both emphases of development for many factories abroad.

Main international pulverizing machinery manufacturers are Japan and Germany. In Japan, there are several hundred pulverizing machinery factories, with their astonishing output, products of large capacity, broad application and advanced technology. Many merchants and trader are attracted by Japan’s biennial International Powder Expo’, which gives Japanese manufacturers a stage to advertise, show and promote their products. China’s factories are still a long way from a rival of big international manufacturers, such as Japan’s Hosakawa, Nara, Nissin, and German company of Ahlpa, no matter in terms of size, technical development, promotion, executive management, and other ideologies and concepts.

At present, many domestic pulverizing machinery factories has just started and been backward in information and technology. Only 20 years ago, there was not one factory specializing in pulverizing machinery in China, and just some factories producing out-of-date agricultural feedstuff pulverizing machine. So hereby, we must thank an expert, Mr. Zhao Jiaqun, for his design and development of large quantity of pulverizing machines suitable for domestic using in manufacture and operation and spread all over China, and his courageous early exploration of China’s pulverizing machinery that brought a beginning of today’s flourishing industry, after he found the backwardness of the industry. Although technical management and size of factories in the industry is in a early and primitive stage, with some still village enterprises or small workshops, we strongly believe that through healthy market competition and absorbing of advanced foreign technology and management of all sides, the industry will leap forward and move closer to foreign big companies.
